…and there’s probably a sad minority of souls that actually are aware of what this is all about. (And no: it is not about ‘Baby Jesus’ or any of that religious crap or about some fat bearded guy fuelling materialism.)
It’s really saddening to see how the Roman Empire and its Christian religion assimilated all pagan beliefs at the time. What’s even more frustrating is that those fundamentalists even dare state that, for instance, all the ‘proof’ that Jesus never existed, has been ‘planted by the Devil’ hundreds of years before. Yeah — uhuh. Sure. If those thickheads believe that, they are not even worth to be practising ‘atheism’. Puh.
All and all, us atheists are the most tolerant human beings on Earth — we don’t mind if you limit your self to a specific way of life. We wouldn’t force ours upon you either — only in an act of ‘defense’. But those religious zealots try to do that all the time.
I really can’t wait for the first Jehova’s Witnesses or other door-to-door religions people to show up on my doorstep. I usually find it very challenging to hit them with facts and plain logic.
But there is no way to get through to these thickheads. Only the non-existance of Hell & Heaven will convince them when they’ve died and they’ll be pretty desillusioned.
So to all those ‘god-fearing’ people; to quote the “The God Who Wasn’t There”-movie: I renounce the holy spirit and I am not afraid.
I really need to print a T-shirt with that text on it and confront people. Hey, if I am confronted with the silly concept of religion all the time — it shouldn’t be ‘illegal’ or ‘nasty’ for me to confront religious people with the other, right? With ‘God’ on their side why are they always picking the role of the victim? Don’t they believe in their God enough not to make to much of it?
I’ll probably never understand those idiots…
