January 19th 2006 at 9:05 am in A New York Times article states that all the wiretaps done after September 11th were actually useless;
But virtually all of them, current and former officials say, led to dead ends or innocent Americans.
Remember what statement the Bush administration made regarding these illegal taps? Let me refresh your memory:
President Bush has characterized the eavesdropping program, which focused on the international communications of some Americans and others in the United States, as a “vital tool” against terrorism; Vice President Dick Cheney has said it has saved “thousands of lives.”
Again: they are telling lies…
Now why was Clinton impeached? It really wasn’t about the supposed sexual act he performed with this woman that supposedly never cleans her clothes (or was setting him up).
It was because he lied about the fact, and misled the American people. Isn’t Bush doing exactly the same? Impeach Bush!
By the way, as they did with Carnivore and Echelon spying programs, I can definately see these taps on international communications being abused for corporate espionage. The Carlyle Group could quite effectively take out the competition if they know what they are up to.
