If you can’t beat it — embrace it…

The Chicago Tribune reports that churches are to mark Darwin’s 197th birthday:

Nearly 450 Christian churches around the country plan to celebrate the 197th birthday of Charles Darwin on Sunday with programs and sermons intended to emphasize that his theory of biological evolution is compatible with faith and that Christians have no need to choose between religion and science.

If you cannot beat it — embrace it. The church has been doing that before.

Its so-called absolute knowledge has been questioned before and after years of fundamentally rejecting an idea it’s now, like, “Oh sorry, we were wrong — they were right all along, sorry for the fuck-up.”.

Of course it’s hard to reject Darwin’s idea — proof is all over the place. Everything evolves, especially beliefs and religions.

That’s the whole purpose of being now isn’t it?
