March 15th 2006 at 9:03 am in Computers & Hardware, Interesting Links, Security & Privacy, Software Yesterday, an article on 10 Best Security Live CD Distros (Pen-Test, Forensics & Recovery) was posted on Darknet.
Live CD’s are the type of operating systems that fit on a CD, can boot almost any hardware, and allow you to use the machine to quite a large extent. The distro’s mentioned in the article are not for end-users, however, but more for the forensic analyst or other computer professionals that recover crashed or otherwise compromised machines.
If you are into this stuff, the article is definitely worth a read.

Got on the front page of Digg last night too, mad traffic..
Just noticed 179 users online aswell…then WTF now it’s on the top of the front page of Slashdot, zomg!!one
That’s pretty cool — word gets around eh. Now to see if the machine can handle all the traffic.
It couldn’t
41.62 59.52 59.65
Went as high as 90 LOL
MySQL still not responding properly
Really need to install WP-Cache now..
Ouch! I didn’t have any problems or noteworthy delays connecting today though — so apart from the high load, I must say it responded pretty good.
BTW I have seen loads on Linux boxes exceed the 200 — the OS will continue to operate if it gets enough time.
**EDIT**
The site seems broke now (16:49 CET), indeed: Wordpress keeps repeating it cannot establish a database connection to localhost.
Yah MySQL kept maxing out its connections, and the CPU didnt have enough free cycles to serve up the content, FTPd kept crashing too LOL
Managed to get access in the end and did a 302 temporary redirect to a coral cached version.
