I really shouldn’t have to — but to put the above into context for some of the ignorant readers out there — that is what (most) German citizens said after World War II. See, they were not aware of the genocidal evil their Nazi-dictator Commander-In-Chief was into in surrounding countries, as the propaganda-ridden German media-machine successfully suppressed all that information during the war.
Now I find it rather unlikely that, during the war, absolutely nobody might have known, or even suspected what really was going on. Sure there were, perhaps, a few — but they were probably labeled ‘conspiracy nuts‘ for thinking the government being behind such murderous acts…
