On the Theory of Evolution…

So, I was watching Discovery Channel’s Monkey Business when suddenly the following ‘revelation’ hit me, a thought that never had crossed my mind probably because it was staring me in the eyes all along.

See, in order to prove that we descend from monkeys (’mere animals’ as some tend to think), scientists are on this quest for the long sought after ‘missing link’ and other things that would substantiate the claim that we haven’t been ‘created’, but just simply ‘evolved’ from other species.

Seeing this baby monkey on TV the logic hit me. Although I haven’t read or heard of it, being so darned obvious, the point must‘ve been made before, but that won’t stop me from echoing it here anyway.

We all know babies — chances are you actually have one. Chances are that your finger has been grabbed tightly by one, at least once in your life.

Now hold that thought…

Why in the world does a baby have that strong a grip? To clutch to toys? I don’t think so.

I can think of only one real use for a strong grip like that. That’s for the baby to use it to cling on to its mothers’ fur. We’ve lost our hairy bodies but this strong grip has remained. If it feels something — it grabs it tightly. I wouldn’t be surprised if baby-feet would react the same.

We’re all monkeys!
