As the comedian who commented on the so-called ‘debate’ that was televised last-night said, I made a tactical vote today: I went to the voting station between 10 and 11 am, so it wasn’t too crowded.
Over here they used those dreaded Nedap chess-computers, err I mean voting machines — machines that all could’ve been rigged long before this actual election.
Although I seriously have issues with the electronic voting system, it’s a bit of a double edged sword…
If I don’t vote, my vote doesn’t count.
If I do vote I risk my vote going to the CDA as documented in this report. That report nicely demonstrates how easily the software can be modified to make the votes go to parties with an accentuated character in the name. Our spelling in the Netherlands has changed much — even our main Dutch dictionary says that the ‘Appel’ part of the ‘CDA’ name should be written without an accent.
I wonder why, although spelling has changed about 3 times the last few decades, why the CDA never updated the spelling of its name?
