Saddam Hussein probably hanged this Saturday
Although denied by some officials, the rumours started to spread that Saddam Hussein might be hanged this Saturday.
Civilisation eh.
Developed eh.
Free world eh.
And if you don’t like it, we’ll hang ya.
Hang the imperialists!
I always knew that the egg was first!
Reading this — a realisation I had as a kid for fucks sake. Pure logic led me to that conclusion but nobody would take my words serious. But now because a professor says so, it’s true.
Oh well, better late than never.
Flaming one company and praising the other — while both companies are trying to accomplish the same goals — really makes you look like an idiot.
So, a lot of negative stuff about the PS3 I read this morning. Lately there was some rumours about stacks of PS3s at numerous stores, like as if nobody wants them. Today another story on Slashdot about PS3s freezing up — reportedly.
Anyways, I wouldn’t have given this any more attention if I didn’t catch somebody [...]
James Brown R.I.P.
I just caught the news that, sadly, James Brown passed away this Christmas morning.
I remember him being on some talk show on the BBC this year — alive and kicking so I was rather surprised to read about this.
His music has been an inspiration to many musicians — I know there’s numerous songs sampling him [...]
Quote Of The Week #40
Mestrius Plutarchus, the Greek historian and writer, wrote in his essay On Superstition, that…
All men whilst they are awake are in one common world; but each of them, when he is asleep, is in a world of his own.

Samba developer resigns from Novell
Gloklaw has an article about a software developer’s resignation from Novell as a result of Novell’s deal with Microsoft, yesterday.
Jeremy Allison, a Samba developer, thinks the patent deal between the two companies will be “damaging to the Novell’s success in the future”,
Whilst the Microsoft patent agreement is in place there is *nothing* we can [...]
Want to own a filesystem?
I just caught this Wired article through Slashdot. Hans Reiser, the creator of ReiserFS — a computer file system — is currently in jail because he’s suspected of murdering his wife. (Yeh the tough reality is that the moment somebody dies or disappears, the spouse is the number one suspect.)
He was actually already arrested on [...]
Gen-tech contaminated rice found in Dutch supermarkets
Earlier this month results from research by Greenpeace indicated that a certain brand of rice that is sold in Dutch supermarkets is contaminated with genetically modified crops. (I wouldn’t have caught this if I didn’t check Indymedia.)
According to the article, it’s contaminated with a type of modified rice that can survive a certain weed-killer. [...]
Terrorism-suspect being extradited to the US
Wow — some Dutch terrorism suspect is being extradited to the US.
That isn’t at all ‘news’ or anything, but I find it most interesting here (in my opinion anyways) that he will be the first guy tried for terrorism in the US since the 9/11 attacks.
Impotent government — they couldn’t even catch one on [...]
Quote Of The Week #39
Mahatma Gandhi, the guy who ‘invented’ resistance through civil disobedience, has once noted:
The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

Un-effing-believable…
I just caught this disgusting video on eBaums’ World.
Nice — these are the guys, ‘the brave western soldiers’, that are supposed to bring and sustain peace? No wonder these guys get shot at all the time — how the hell would you react if some invading force did that to your kids? Or taunted them [...]
One of our cats has got acne…
Indeed: cat acne (sometimes called ‘chin acne’ or ‘cruddy chin’). Symptoms: weird black spots start appearing on the cats chin.
Although rarely heard of (Google search — at the time of this writing 606 hits) it’s not an entirely uncommon condition though. Iterating through these results I hit this guys experience with the disease which [...]
The ‘joys’ of computerisation…
Things can go wrong — about 800.000 times.
Forgive my sarcasm, but wasn’t making this type of stuff illegal supposed to cure all of this? *very deep sigh*
The ‘industry’ really should stop lobbying to criminalise crackers and direct their ammo at the ones that are really responsible: the companies that allow for these type of fraud [...]
Online treatment for alcoholism
I just caught this news (Dutch) about on-line treatment for alcohol-addiction by some Dutch clinic that specialises in that type of thing.
This ‘treatment’ consists of 7 online chat-sessions with a professional.
Now, I can’t get this image out of my head:
i have a drinking problem
Come, come, elucidate your thoughts.
i drink too much
I’m not sure I understand [...]
Quote Of The Week #38
Marcus Tullius Cicero, the Roman philosopher and orator, wrote in his De Legibus, part III:
Ollis salus populi suprema lex esto.
That the people’s good is the highest law.
Quote Of The Week, QOTW
Cute…
Cute.. I quote:
Players and creators of video games could face imprisonment for acts of virtual violence under draft legislation being drawn up by two of Germany’s state governments.
It could’ve been an article on The Onion but sadly — it ain’t no joke. ‘Der’ Man wants to illegalise in-game violence thinking that it will prevent kids [...]
The fallacy of male birth-control
You might have noticed that I don’t want to have kids (the reasons as to why are beyond the scope of this little blurb though — but I’m sure you’ll believe me when I say that, to sum it all up, it’s really best for the kid). To accomplish this my girlfriend uses some method [...]
Quote Of The Week #38 #37
Just caught this logging in, by Plato:
Honesty is for the most part less profitable than dishonesty.
Update: Woops, seems I wasn’t fully awake this morning — this is supposed to be quote #37.
Quote Of The Week, QOTW
Just don’t let me see you shoot no dogs…
It’s bad enough to kill a man — but shooting the dog too is a wee bit excessive, don’t ya think?
Damn cops…
