And all other so-called “laws” that ought to protect “intellectual property”.

To prevent other people from stealing it and putting it on the market with cheaper labour.

So that’s saying: we want to protect intellectual property. Because we are so smart and innovative.

But you must pay the full price that we put to that crap we produce. Can’t have any fair competition giving everybody the change to market it….

(Ironically, USA wouldn’t have been there if all that criminal scum didn’t leave Europe, so factually, all your base belongs to us *anyway*.)

Obama: you’s the white man’s new bitch. The biggest one ever. Oh my god how many people you must put to shame with your “white” behaviour. Bitch is worse than the KKK….

Haha, damn criminals, each and every one of those politicians.

Oh fuck, it’s not even funny.

I feel really sorry for the people that thought the world was seriously going to change for the better when that clown took that post.

But hey, you /could’ve/ seen this shit coming.

Who the fuck were they trying to kid anyway — trying to prevent the USA from getting their scapegoat: Gary McKinnon is to be extradited to US.

If he is prevented from committing suicide, and if he’s technically any good, he is most probably going to end up working for the US army.

Either way, good bye Gary, and do whatever you got to do…

<rant>
I know your story shall not be forgotten. In fact, this is surely going to cause more agression towards the USA — which, of course, is exactly the plan: the more people upset with the US, the more people organise — which means that more groups of people can be targeted as “sleeper cells” and end-up as so-called non-combatants in some foreign prison getting humiliated…

The more we look at this and get used to it, the easier this excuse can be used to take out any voices of freedom. (Freedom != democracy — you could be called a non-thinking idiot to think otherwise.) From terrorists to the non-violent political groups — people arrested and never to be heard of again. This “movement” has been happening for almost a decade now — it started since that 9/11-facade and has been speeding up ever since.

Speeding items shall definitely run into a wall at some point, but I sincerely hope it won’t do too much damage to the not-so-guilty. (We’re all responsible for baking this global shitcake, actually…)

So a couple of weeks ago I heard the news that, on my old “high-school”, a teacher was put on non-active because he was having a sex-chat with a 12 year old girl on the internet while his laptop-screen contents were beamed onto a big screen in front of the entire classroom. (Dutch article here.)

Interestingly, the school does not file a complaint against the teacher because it wasn’t the teachers intension to show it on the screen. Also, a representative of the school now downplays the stories that initially went around, especially about the girl being a minor.

Of course, these sicko’s will “protect” each-other and they will probably “share” kids between them.

This isn’t the first time this same frigging school has a child-abuse-related incident: a few kids were abused, and even one teacher was screwing with a 16 year old and another once dangled his penis in front of the entire class-room. I heard some other “vague” stories about teachers suddenly being replaced by another teacher due to a “burn-out”.

If that story ever went around your school — that a teacher had a burn-out and had to be replaced — the odds are the teacher was a frigging paedophile that loved children just a tad too much, I’m sure!

I don’t know what comedian said it first, but “anyone who likes to work with children is suspect”..

Life is what happens to you when you are too busy making other plans… Or rather, when you are sleeping…

Friday morning wasn’t the nicest of mornings: I woke up at 7AM as usual, went downstairs to open my laptop and make myself a nice cuppa. The laptop is usually right there on the table… but… where the fuck is it now?! Still having not had my first cuppa coffee I had this crazy insane idea my girlfriend couldn’t sleep and took it upstairs or something…

So I went upstairs, hit the lights of the bedroom and seeing no laptop anywhere, yelled to my girlfriend (who woke up from the lights) “Where the fuck is my laptop?“.

So there we were, 30 seconds later, downstairs realising our place had been hit by one or more needy and greedy folk.

I noticed damage to the door to the garden — which is how he/they got in — which I wanted to take a picture of… but hey… where the fuck is the camera?

Where the fuck are the PS3 controllers? Where the fuck are the PS3 games? Where the fuck are our phones? Well, by now those things are probably sold-off already (although I expect those phone-o-saurusses to have been thrown in the bin already).

Some things left untouched, strangely. The PS3 console itself is still standing there, and our identity-cards and credit-cards and stuff were still in our wallets; the money was stolen from mine, though.

And, as I told the cops as they arrived 20 minutes later — “as you can smell, they didn’t steal our weed, too”.

The reason for the PS3 still being there could be because I did awake at the time of the break-in! (IRC logs tell me exactly when they have opened the laptop to check it out, and when the thing ping timed-out.)

I just thought nothing of it and went to sleep again, that might’ve startled the thief or thieves. Damn, and just for this type of occasion I still have some golf-clubs lying around… a missed opportunity.

Oh well, so the MacBook Pro is stolen, may take a while before I get a new one. The only real drag is that I had some private document locally stored on that thing which I have now lost (password protected though but I no longer have it either which sucks), and no longer having your phone and the numbers in it, and not being able to take a photograph of your pet in a unique situation, well, obviously that is major suckage.

The fact that somebody else was in my house doesn’t at all bother me that much (I hear the same, almost ‘cliche’ from everybody that it must be a frigging ill feeling). Me and the girlfriend are quite sober in that respect; we realise that, in fact, the misguided ones are the ones that are feeling safe in their home when in fact you never really are. You can’t do anything to prevent this, no alarm-system or anything can really guarantee this will not happen too you.

OK, this morning I did wake up earlier than normal and went downstairs partly to check if everything was *still* there but that’s just a phase of slightly increased paranoia I guess…

So I was trying out some API connection, for which I had set up an account on Blogger. Now, the profile over there is displayed in Dutch .. And it translates the sign ‘Cancer’ to the disease ‘cancer’ in Dutch:
The correct translation is of course, ‘Kreeft‘.

That’s the problem with homonyms, words written the same, but with different meanings. Kanker in Dutch, really, really only is a disease (or a district in India).

Amusing to some, offending to others…

I wonder how long this wrongly has been displayed — and how long before it’s noticed by someone that’d actually take the effort of sending them an email about it…

With the recent focus on what human power consumption does to the environment (you know with initiative like a black Google page to save on energy consumption by computer screens), I suddenly realised something that would greatly reduce even more useless power consumption.

It hit me when my girlfriends’ laptop was starting to have issues because it was running too hot and rebooting a few days ago… This was due to a clogged air-vent, and was easily solved. However, to keep an eye on the temperature, she’s loaded the KDE applet that shows the CPU temperature.

This gives an interesting insight into power consumption … for instance, during normal browsing, opening a few tabs, et cetera, the temperature quickly rises a 10 degrees Celsius just because of the Flash animations that are trying to sell stuff we’re not even remotely interested in….

The moment you close those websites with those animations: *poof* the temperature drops and the fan quiets down again.

So I propose people to stop using those damned ads (or use text-ads if you really really need to).

(I was even thinking about taking this a step further, as a “proposal to stop irritating internet plugins” … where a plugin must show a screenshot, and a (i) button which you hover over to get informed about a plugins’ intent, and allow it. If the plugins’ actual action does not fit the intent, those plugin-writer should go to jail.. yeh I’m still hatching this one…)

What the fuck is up with todays youth?

I was sitting in the train minding my own business, when at a certain station this older guy tried to unfold his foldable bicycle. Tried — because it didn’t work initially. All in all it was relatively amusing because you could hear the guy curse the bike..

Another pair of witnesses to this oh-so-funny event — a guy and his girlfriend — were having fun too. Next thing that I heard this guy say to his girlfriend, while reaching for his camera-phone: “Make a video of this?”…

I’m usually not one of those guys that helps other people with stuff they can figure out by themselves — but the mere fact that the youth nowadays finds it more important to, probably, post some dang video on the internet — than to be able to help another person, pissed me off a bit so I decided to lend a hand…

If there is any balance in the world and universe, I bet those two kids, when they grow up, will get ridiculed too.

Life is incoherent. Well not life — rather politics. Here’s what I mean….

You might have read the news that some Adult Only video game isn’t going to be released on any videoconsole because of its seemingly gory content (indeed, ManHunt 2)….

But the ‘funny’ thing is…. the moment they find that 4 year old Madeleine-kid — fucked-up beyond all recognition, shredded to little bloody bits, and skull-fucked, I bet ya, those gory details will have to be all over the fucking news, because the news has to be spread how terrible those paedophiles are — they are like terrorists, I tell ya!

Another thing I noticed is that, at least this time, the kidnapping isn’t a running ad for Vodafone, as a couple of years ago (remember?), no, now it is for football-club Everton.

It is amazing how nobody focusses on how irresponsible the fucking parents are for loosing a damn four-year-old kid to begin with…

But hey, it’s OK to ignore a few things to stir up mass-hysteria.

So the body of the one Dutch soldier that got hit by ‘collateral damage’ from the freedom fighters in Afghanistan, arrived back in the Netherlands yesterday.

That is great, because things were winding down over here — people stopped caring about those fucking wars.

Now again, the media can tell the people on how bad the Taliban is, how good the US is, and how good we are helping them, allowing our own soldiers to get burned in the heat of the fire that was initiated by the goddamn US to begin with. And the people are too stupid too believe that crap too.

The guy is dead — so fucking what?

That basically comes with the territory of “fighting for the state, following orders, regardless of fact or truth”. It is basically like, stepping naked into a dark-room you know is filled with homosexuals, and don’t like the pain in the ass after…

So…. the brother of the politician that got shot dead in 2002, is going to sue the state, or at least two guys that were in government at the time. According to this news-article (Dutch), Mr. Fortuyn states that it is now time because he has had the time to get over it.

Well… get over it already. Apparently he’s not over it… No instead, he finds it necessary to sue the state. For what? Will this get his brother back? Nope.

Sueing the state ain’t gonna help ANYONE except a few fucking lawyers… Perhaps Mr. Fortuyn will get a lot of money… or maybe the guy is just in desperate need of some attention.

The basis for sueing the god-damn state is the fucking statement by the murderer (since when are we trusting statements of criminals I wonder… only if it’s in someone’s sick advantage methinks). The guy said that, if there were guards surrounding Pim Fortuyn he wouldn’t have shot him.

Then again, if Pim Fortuyn wasn’t having that (seemingly) scripted interview on the radio, this wouldn’t have happened either.

If Marten Fortuyn mother didn’t fuck his father, his brother wouldn’t have been killed either. A well-established member of the medical society could definitely say that, and he would not be lying. Strangely, Mr. Fortuyn thinks the word of a criminal is worth more. (When I was young, I tried to talk my way out of the bad things I’ve done, too, and would’ve tried to shift the blame, saying that I wouldn’t have done it if a certain factor would or wouldn’t have come into play.) Mr. Fortuyn seems to only use this to his advantage for some publicity.

My guess is that he is probably going to publish a book some time soon.

Anyway, the fact of the matter is that, you and me, the ordinary citizens, when we get threatened, the police won’t do shit until you get stabbed or robbed. Simply because it is impossible, there is not enough man-power to protect all the citizens.

But politicians need special protection? That’s basically unfair.

All in all it would be real fair if politicians would be succeptible to the same dangers and threats that the rest of the population has to deal with. Then they would really know how they are fucking things up in stead of making decisions from their towers looking down on the rest…. Again, I slightly digress — what I mean to say is that it would be injustice saying that politicians need more protection than the rest of the population — because that boils down to saying that deaths and threats among the population are no priority. And that would make some people more equal than others, know what I’m saying?

Sueing the state, in my humble opinion, really seems futile. If the judge would think Mr. Fortuyn has got a case — a lot of families of the victims of violence could sue the state too basically.

In the end — through taxes, et cetera — it will be us that have to pay the price for all of this. End of rant.

Couple of years ago, while watching the Snooker championships on TV, noticing the advertisements on the players’ clothes, I had this nasty vision that at one point, ‘internet-connected sponsorships-tags‘ could just change on the fly… (The patent doesn’t mention any network connectivity though.) A player plays better: more companies want to be on that thing and the position is sold through eBay or something, and the highest bidder ends up on the players’ shirt — until the player wins another frame which could totally change popularity and pricing. Seeing that, nowadays, advertisement-money makes the world go ’round, this idea is probably viable too.

I really should patent the above idea…. but now that it is out in the open, thus no longer original if somebody else thinks of the idea, so nobody else ever can.

Couldn’t help but notice the ‘hype’ surrounding the article entitled ‘You Grew Up Playing Shoot’em-Up Games. Why Can’t Your Kids?…. Although the title of that article may sound grown-up and wise, personally, I think it’s a bullshit wise-crack because I seriously doubt it has anything to do at all with computer games at all.

You could just as well be asking:
“You screwed around in the sixties, now why can’t your kids?”
“You smoked as a teen, now why can’t your kids?”
“You shop-lifted, broke public property and sprayed graffiti on walls, now why can’t your kids?”
“You watched porn, now why can’t your kids watch MTV?”

Now I could go off making dumb conclusions a few paragraphs to say with a lot of words that, well, sex, smoking and shoplifting or braking public property isn’t what it used to be… But you know that is just a silly waste of electronic ink.

(Oh, if I only wrote columns for a paper — then I could get payed (per word) for my bullshit musings, too.)

This doesn’t have a single thing to do with the games — it has to do with the fact that people slowly realise that TV and media do have a bad influence…. Under the guise of ‘freedom of speech’ and shit like that, we get all kinds of soft-porn thrown at us — and surely girls get raped on the streets.

That is all OK because MTV can sell ads in between. But parents have to get the fingers pointed at and told “Hey you played games as a kid why can’t yours?.”.

So the media can sell more.

So, following last years November elections, the upcoming government has been formed and we’re up for another term with Yawn-Peter Balkenende as our prime-minister.

It’s not surprising to see that these criminals get away with an un-just war. No investigation into the Iraqcle (Iraq + Debacle) — it’s a fucking joke how easy they can get away with this…. These corrupt guys just throw an extra bunch of impossible new ideas into their party-program that they’re sure of it’ll cause major irritation and objections from all the other parties — and you can get away with the shit you really want to do.

And meanwhile, there’s another election pending, one for the Staten-Generaal, or parliament, this March…. And I am having serious doubts as to vote, or not to vote.

The irony is that I’ve always told other people to use their vote but at this point I’ve lost total trust in that system. I’m currently balancing two things on a scale:

1. If I vote — I am, somehow, kinda responsible for anything coming from it.
2. If I do not vote, I am, somehow, kinda responsible for anything coming from it.

So basically, we have 2 different actions — both resulting in the same consequences.

If doing something and doing nothing have similar consequences, should any effort be made? Is that morally acceptable? We all know that, politically, things will only get worse (Entropy: the slow, but sure detoriation of a society)…

(Incidentally, listening to Kurtis Blow’s “If I ruled the world” the other day, I realised that:

If I ruled the world and there would be happiness and peace;
The CIA’s terrorists would blow it to pieces.

And the sad reality is that there will never be peace because there’s always an asshole who thinks he must change other people. But I slightly digress here.)

Possibly, taking part in the voting process is basically keeping this hideous thing in motion. At least that does count for the herds of thousands of sheep who only know of politics what the media feeds them.

There’s no way for a few sane people to go up against the insane multitude with an insane system.

Keeping those things in mind, day by day I get more accustomed to the thought that I can just ignore stuff and head out to buy the latest video-game. The multitude seems to only think about themselves, so why shouldn’t I.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have now got an Apple MacBook Pro to work on, which obviously has its pros and cons. Sure, the machine supports X11 to a certain extent but I don’t want to basically run 2 different window managers that look and act a bit differently. I have been working on Linux machines for over a decade now and one of the major drawbacks of having a mainstream operating system is that everyone that writes an application or utility for it wants to sell it. You search for something, you think you find it because you read a good review or something and end up on a page where you can download a crippled piece of software.

Nope, it doesn’t seem enough anymore that somebody else even wants to try your software — no, people have to pay to get an un-crippled, functional application.

I don’t mind people making an honest buck, but the crippling of functionality seem like mob-extortion practices to me.

And it’s really starting to become an annoyance… again (hence this rant). It seems that money is more important than showing off what you can do. Back when I was a kid, it was fun to write software and share it with people I knew. The idea that somebody else was using my software or playing my game was cool — somebody else that would think ‘Wow this is a great, I’m glad he wrote this‘.

Now people are like, ‘I’m a l33t coder — gimme gimme gimme and you get this fine application without crippled functionality.‘, before you have actually started using the program. (And everything being released as a binary, it’s pretty hard to find out if they actually wrote it themselves and didn’t steal logic from known Open Source projects. Being I’m Dutch, I don’t think I would even want to pay up $20 to attempt to find out.)

Man, didn’t you write that utility or program because you wanted the functionality yourself? People downloaded and used your program and have possibly sent you bug-reports, feature requests and new ideas. And then, suddenly, your great free program turns into a cock-teasing prostitute that knows what the users want and you depend on the fact that a few people that have taken it for a lap-dance will pay up for the complete job — just showing enough to make the average guy horny.

No wonder there are guys (and girls) out there that crack that type of software. To continue the analogy in the previous paragraph, that isn’t rape, the software is asking for it.

No, today it seems that the crackers are the really smart guys out there. At least, they unconditionally release their tools — for their own egos or whatever. If the ego of any author of a cracked application was just as equally pleased he wouldn’t have had to lock-up his piece of software to begin with.

But relax, I wouldn’t use a cracked version of your program anyway — there’s no love, man — I’d only make love to a woman that actually wants to, for free.

So, last weekend, with the image of the Saddam Hussein getting hanged fresh in the memory of many, the ever-so-useless act of celebrating the new year started.

We can’t let our children play ‘Killzone’ or games in which they have to kill people — but it’s alllllllright, (no it’s almost obligatory), to show an anti-american dead man dangling from a string.

I don’t know, but that has got nothing to do with civilisation.

It makes you wonder. If the US does this to a friend it makes you wonder how they’d treat their enemy…

Anyway, I always find it funny how, throughout the year, ‘the man’ is doing its best to keep the multitude scared with stories about 19 cavemen hijacking planes and shit, how all that loudmouth bable falls into a deep pit of quietness because on New Years’ Eve — and Christmas itself, no fucking terrorist act occurs.

That, while, (especially) New Years’ Eve would be an excellent vector of attack. Total chaos. Everywhere. We wouldn’t dare celebrate New Years Eve ever again if everything would blow up and little kids would be shredded to bits.

But nah, this shit doesn’t happen.

It’s curious how these celebrations which, logically, cause a massive flow of payments back-and-forth, how these celebrations are never targetted.

And they are out for our freedoms? Why aren’t ‘they’ attacking that? Ah, because it’s a fucking lie, methinks. That’s why I think New Years’ Eve and Christmas will always be OK: there’s too much money going around in it.

So, a lot of negative stuff about the PS3 I read this morning. Lately there was some rumours about stacks of PS3s at numerous stores, like as if nobody wants them. Today another story on Slashdot about PS3s freezing up — reportedly.

Anyways, I wouldn’t have given this any more attention if I didn’t catch somebody saying something like this in that thread:

I loved Sony, I loved my PS2. Then this whole rootkit crap happened. Because of that I am now gonna buy an XBox 360.

Yeh that’ll teach the industry! </sarcasm>

It’s a nice demonstration of the stupidity of people in large groups because he probably won’t be the only one thinking that… Microsoft for fuck sakes — a real saint they are.

It’s really funny how, because everybody says DRM is bad and the Sony/BMG thing was pure evil, so they’re buying Microsoft stuff now. It just shows how much people really, really know: just enough to fuck ‘m up….

Sure DRM is bad — but the world needed a Sony/BMG thing to make the public realise what’s happening; but sadly they seem to be missing the point. Microsoft is doing exactly the same — difference is they own the rootkit, err, the stuff that makes up Windows (the stolen frame and the illusion of glass in it). Or their Xbox for that matter.

All of these companies are up to no good — if you really want to make a point; buy neither, because flaming one company while praising the other, while both companies are trying to accomplish the same goals, really makes you look like an idiot.

I just caught this disgusting video on eBaums’ World.

Nice — these are the guys, ‘the brave western soldiers’, that are supposed to bring and sustain peace? No wonder these guys get shot at all the time — how the hell would you react if some invading force did that to your kids? Or taunted them like this? Yeah — really ‘funny’….

OK sure, this doesn’t mean all the soldiers are acting like that; but there are, in my humble opinion, too many of these ‘incidental’ videos popping up all over the web to really believe that.

These jarheads aren’t exactly the smartest guys in the world; I guess they just don’t know better and sadly think it is in any way funny.

(It could be really funny if fahk aireq, or something in Arabic sounding similar, means ‘down with US imperialism’, but my Arabic isn’t that good to know.)
